Explica Tu Contrato translates Spanish rental and arras contracts into plain language. This page covers who makes it, how the content is written and, above all, where its limits are. If you are going to hand us a contract, you deserve to know exactly what is on the other side.
What this is
A tool that reads your Spanish rental or arras contract and explains what it says: which clauses are standard, which are unusual, and which may be abusive under Spanish law.
It is built for the moment before you sign, when you have a PDF in front of you, half of it makes no sense, and you have to decide. It does not replace a lawyer: it gives you a map so you know what to ask.
Who is behind it
The site is operated by Alejandro Ruiz Bermejo, a software developer and the sole person responsible for the project. Full identifying details are in the Legal Notice.
We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal services. There is no qualified lawyer on the team.
How the guides are written
The rental and arras guides are written from primary sources: the Ley de Arrendamientos Urbanos, the Civil Code, the housing law, and material published by official bodies. Where we state a limit or a deadline, we aim to link the specific article so you can check it yourself.
No qualified lawyer has reviewed this content. It is written carefully and checked against the legislation, but it carries no professional sign-off, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise.
Legislation changes. If you find something out of date or simply wrong, tell us: we will correct it and record the review date.
How the analysis works
The analysis is produced by a language model (Claude, by Anthropic) using instructions specific to each contract type and scoped to Spanish law. No person reads your contract.
Language models get things wrong. They can miss a clause, misread unusual wording, or state something confidently and be mistaken. Treat the output as a starting point for your own reading, not as a ruling.
What happens to your contract
The contract text is not stored. The generated report is held temporarily against a random identifier and deleted when it expires; the Privacy Policy has the detail.
No account or email address is required to use the tool.
What this is not
This is not legal advice. It creates no solicitor-client relationship. It does not replace review by a qualified professional, and for high-value transactions — a property purchase, for instance — that review is still worth getting.
